We are a part of the Body of Christ on the southside of Chicago, gathering as people of all different colors, cultures, and classes, but embodying together our one Living Hope, Jesus Christ.
In October 2003, we were launched at the University of Chicago as a satellite congregation of Bethel Christian Church. We began with 5 students and within a month we had grown to 40 people.
Over the years, we've been connected with hundreds of wonderful people, some who are with us for a few years and eventually are sent all over the world, others who feel the unique joys and burdens of our ministry and stay.
In October 2010, Bethel at UChicago became Living Hope Church, launched out as a new mission church of the Chicago Metro Presbytery, and began renovating an abandoned pool hall in the Woodlawn neighborhood immediately south of the UChicago.
After two years of renovating 6414 South Cottage Grove Avenue, we celebrated our grand opening in February 2013, and God has been granting us new opportunities to expand our work in Him ever since.
